Sánchez asks the CEOE to sit down with the unions to reach a salary agreement now

The President of the Government and Secretary General of the PSOE, Pedro Sánchez, has demanded this Sunday that the CEOE sit down to negotiate with the unions to reach an agreement on wages.

This was stated during his first speech as president of the Socialist International, at the closing of the XVII Congress that was held in Madrid this weekend.

“I ask the employers, the CEOE, to sit down with the unions to reach a wage agreement that gives workers security,” he stated during his speech, in which he highlighted the promotion of labor rights as one of the the main lines of action of his new mandate at the head of the SI.

Thus, he has defended that the consolidation of decent work and labor rights was the embryo from which the Socialist International was born and in Spain its Government has approved a labor reform that has advanced “as never before” in the last 40 years in providing “stability”. and “dignity” and that has placed collective bargaining at the center of labor relations.

Along these lines, he has indicated that in the stage that he opens as head of the organization, he will seek to advance in this matter “promoting the adoption of commercial clauses that pursue compliance with minimum standards, strengthening the work of multilateral institutions in the United Nations in defense of rights labor and fair trade” and thirdly “guaranteeing the extension of these rights to the jobs generated by the technological and digital revolution”, has ended.
